Catholic?[edit]

Regarding the description of this media as Catholic, we have a small dispute ([1]). User:Propositum wrote on my talk page 'The same source says in the same paragraph that catholics are against the magazine. The latter pretends to be catholic, but from the NPOV is ultra-catholic.' I agree this newspaper does not speak for all Catholics in Poland, but I believe it can be described as Catholic media, because a Catholic fringe (if it indeed is what this represents) is still part of the greater Catholic community. If anybody can add a section about this newspaper biases, target demographics, etc. - go ahead, but as far as the lead is concerned, I believe the adjective Catholic is accurate. PS. Few other sources describing it as a Catholic media: Anna Cichopek (19 June 2014). Beyond Violence: Jewish Survivors in Poland and Slovakia, 1944–48. Cambridge University Press. pp. 131–. ISBN 978-1-107-03666-6., Adam Possamai (28 March 2012). Handbook of Hyper-real Religions. BRILL. pp. 361–. ISBN 90-04-21881-5., Ljiljana Šarić (2010). Contesting Europe's Eastern Rim: Cultural Identities in Public Discourse. Multilingual Matters. pp. 145–. ISBN 978-1-84769-324-2. (this source notes it is seen as a neutral media), Uladzislau Belavusau (8 October 2013). Freedom of Speech: Importing European and US Constitutional Models in Transitional Democracies. Routledge. pp. 158–. ISBN 978-1-135-07198-1. and finally, Bryce Lease (1 September 2016). After '89: Polish Theatre and the Political. Manchester University Press. pp. 148–. ISBN 978-1-5261-0104-4. (this one describes it as nationalist). One source for neutral, one for nationalist, all for Catholic. PPS. Personally I do think it is a conservative media, but that needs sources. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 21:27, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I found with no problem the mainstream source labelling "Gość Niedzielny" as conservative Catholic. I can confirm that it is the common notion among Polish Catholics, because the majority of them does not agree with the worldview held by this magazine. If people call it Catholic, this is beacuse of the simplicity and editors' suggestions. Anyway, I think we have achieved the consensus. Propositum (talk) 22:13, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Propositum: Agreed. Now, seeing as conservative Catholic is a disambig, should we pipe it to Christian right? The problem here is that I couldn't find a source labeling it as right-wing (and I checked Polish sources, too). And yes, I feel it is more to the right than left, but we cannot write an encyclopedia based on our feels... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 23:52, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Piotrus: I have noticed too that conservative Christian and related pages need some clean-up. I will try to solve this problem if I have time. Of course, we should not follow feelings, but the reason (not only in encyclopedia), but we are talking rather about the common notion than mine or Yours. That notion is a fact on its own and it inevitably influences sources, which is nothing wrong as long as the former is common. This is part of wider discussion regarding Wikipiedia's core content policies and even epistemology in general. Propositum (talk) 05:15, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
